Let me share a little story that might sound painfully familiar. Once upon a time, I found myself drowning in a sea of tasks. My calendar was colour-coded and jampacked with meetings, project deadlines, and an ever-growing list of tasks. Like many people, I played the blame game – my life, my work demands, the unexpected curveballs. "There's just not enough time" was a favourite thought loop of mine. Sound familiar?

Here's the hard truth I had to face: we all have the same 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The difference between those who sink and those who swim lies not in the hours we have, but in how we choose to use them. The moment I stopped blaming external factors and started getting intentional about my time, the game changed.

If I had kept blaming my circumstances, my life and all the demands I had on my plate I wouldn’t have recognised that I always had the power to decide what should go first.

Understanding the Real Problem

The real culprit behind our constant battle with time isn't the lack of it; it's our approach to managing it. Being busy isn't the same as being productive. Many of us fill our days with tasks, mistaking motion for progress. But being intentional about how we use our time means focusing on what truly moves the needle forward for our businesses and our personal growth.

Becoming intentional about how you manage your time is a journey, not a destination. It requires practice, patience, and persistence. But remember, every small step towards better time management is a step away from the myth of "not having enough time."

Reflecting on my journey, the shift from blaming external factors to taking ownership of my time was transformative. When I stopped blaming the world at large for robbing me of my time and got real about what I could and wanted to get done in my days, life started getting better.  And I started getting more done.
